Under 11 Football 2007

The boys managed to retain the under 11 football title in October. Having sneaked past Clane by a point in the first game, the season looked to be over following a heavy defeat to Celbridge. However, the team pulled together wonderfully to reach the semi final where they met a strong Athy team. A very tense match ended with Maynooth's second one point win of the campaign. The score line was 1-4 to 0-6.

This led to the final which was played against Naas in very blustery conditions. Both teams started nervously but two goals, one either side of half time by Jake long and Michael Brown pulled the Maynooth team ahead. The defence held out for the last ten minutes with some tremendous blocking and brave tackling.

The final whistle was greeted with jubilant scenes. Team captain Ian Doyle was presented with the cup, which will spend another year in our trophy cabinet! The school are very proud of all 24 squad members who contributed to this great victory.

Many thanks to Kildare's own Dermot Earley who presented the panel with their medals.
