Football 2006/07

The school bridged a nineteen year gap in October 2006 by winning the Kildare under 11 title. The team was unbeaten in all of its fixtures during this campaign. This led to a final against Celbridge which was played in Moorefield.

A good first half from Maynooth gave the boys a 0-6 to 0-2 lead at halftime. Playing into a strong wind, a strong defensive performance was complimented by some opportunist scores to result in a 0-9 to 0-4 win.

The trophy was presented to co-captains Shane Fagan and Neil Flynn.

Under 13 Final 2007

Defeat in the year's first game versus Naas gave no sign of the successful campaign that lay ahead for this team. Ironically, this defeat led to the team regrouping an coming back stronger. Victories followed over Celbridge, Clane, Leixlip and Ballymany which led to the county final. Ballymany were again the opponents but proved to be a much stronger side than that faced in the group stages.

An epic final followed that had everything you could wish for. Six goals, real tension and drama and a real display of defensive courage, midfied athleticism and attacking flair. From this mixture, Maynooth emerged victorious with a 3-6 to 3-4 scoreline.

The final whistle was greeted with great scenes of happiness and relief. This team deserves great credit for six months of training and dedication. Team captain Philip Murphy was a deserving recipient of the cup. Congratulations lads.
