A Trip to the College

On Friday 28th of September 2007, a sunny day, my classmates and I visited St. Patrick's College. It is very close to Maynooth Castle which was once owned by the Fitzgerald family. Inside the college gates there is a yew tree where Silken Thomas, Earl of Kildare played his harp. One of the first buildings was named after its designer John Stoyte. There are lots of buildings around St. Joseph's Square. I love to ride my bike around the square. It's very pretty in the summer. In the orchard we picked acorns and leaves for our nature table.

Beside the chapel there's a lovely rock garden. It's great fun hopping from rock to rock. In 1979, a very important visitor came to the college, Pope John Paul II. People came from all over the country to see him. To finish off our tour we played a football match.
